Unfinished things

I have some projects on the go that seem to have been abandoned lately. I'm not really sure why I do this - I am in the middle of something, enjoying it and then one day will put in down and start something else instead. The put down thing then languishes in my knitting bag, or draped dangerously over my work box next to the cat scratching post and seems destined to stay there, even though I was enjoying making it. So, after a trip to John Lewis and purchase of some Rowan Kid Classic for to make the Ruffle Scarf from their new magazine, I decided that I wouldn't allow myself to start this scarf before I had finished the crochet mohair shrug.

So here is the shrug progress, I think I'm probably about 1/3 of the way there, although it's difficult to tell because it's a vastly different size to the original (I may decide to keep it as a shawl / throw rather than making it up into the shrug because I think the sleeves may be too long and there is no way on this planet that I could undo it now and start again!!).

And this is the Ruffle Scarf with the yarn I picked (red certainly seems to be in for me this autumn, I picked up a red cord skirt and two red tops while shopping last week too...hmmm).

And one last pic before I go :)

We went to Chester Zoo last week, which was very good and I really felt that the animals were well looked after and happy in their enclosures. This was my favourite, the Capybara! So cute and especially easy to photograph - they don't move much!

You know we all do that. Start hings and then put them aside for something...more!! I try and be good and do only one thing at the time..I don't always manage it though. Maybe it is a knitter/crafter thing? Always need to start something just incase we run out of something to do

The real puzzle is that one moment we're enjoying knitting something, and the next it's on the pending pile. I tell myself to be disciplined, but there's always a 'reason' to go on to something new.

When I was a little Noo, my Mum owned a yarn shop!! And she used to let me have yarn for free (to keep me quiet while I spent my school holiday cooped up in the back!!!!) BUT I was never allowed new yarn until I had finished what I was knitting (I think this was an economy thing - she'd have gone bust otherwise!) The lesson has stayed with me though - for the most part! I don't have a huge stash, and I usually only have 2 things OTN's at one time - one big and one more portable! - However, if you could see what I have waiting to be sewn up. . . . that is a whole other story!!!!

Like most knitters, I too struggle with the grass is always greener syndrome! I'm trying not to start stuff until I finish other stuff, and tend to do what Noo does; have a smaller and larger project on the go at once. Love the colour of the Kid Classic. I need to get some to knit Eowyn, but not until I've finished my other stuff...

That Capybara looks very cute! I currently have about 3 different socks on the go and I'm eager to start on a scarf and some more socks... eek!

Trouble is there are so many tempting things out there it`s all too easy to start something new. I blame the internet - I never saw all these lovely patterns `til I started reading blogs and joined the forum.

Love the shrug/shawl it`s going to look great which ever you decide it is destined to be.

Love the shawl/shrug, lovely pattern and beautiful colour.

I try not to have too many things on the go at a time, but sometimes a project is so lovely you just have to start it!

On a totally different note, I have to let you know that your teddy bear went down a storm at the Teddy Bears Picnic, he was a real favourite. He was bought by the sister of one of the members of our knitting group, and she sat and cuddled him all day, so he has definitely gone to a lovely new home!
